Friday Favourites: An Attitude of Gratitude
September 25, 2009 by Melanie
Filed under Me, Myself and I, Resources and Reviews
Each day I wake with the intention to hold an attitude of gratitude, and to focus on appreciation and thanks-giving for all the blessings in my life. Of course, some days this is easier than others! And there’s no mistaking that the times when it feels the hardest to do are the times when I could use it the most. So when I’m in need of some inspiration to get me back on my own gratitude track, I have some trusty sources to turn to. Here are three of my current favourites.
My Everyday Magic A dear, sweet, wonderful friend of mine recently started this blog to focus on the magic that is a part of every day, for each of us. You can go here to get inspired by other people’s everyday magic, and to enrich your life by taking some time to post your own. While you’re there, be sure to check out the pictures and stories of Kate making her way in the world as the Sparkle Fairy! If there was ever a woman that could inject a feeling of magic into the world, this is her!
Wise Ways of Women Forums This is a law of attraction inspired forum I have been hosting for about two and a half years now. The people that hang out there are some of the most beautiful spirits I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. It’s a place to uplift and be uplifted - and there’s a whole forum devoted to awesome appreciation! I don’t know of a better way to get back into a gratitude groove than to go to WWoW and catch the vibe of thankfulness from my dear sisters scattered across the globe.
#gratitude on Twitter A search on Twitter for the #gratitude hashtag will get you page and pages (and pages!) of tweets from people that are grateful. Personal experiences, words of thanks to each other, amazing gratitude quotes… If there’s reason to appreciate it, you’ll find a tweet about it. This is a super fun way to dip into a world ripe with an attitude of gratitude.
Do you have a favourite resource that helps inspire an attitude of gratitude? Please leave a comment below and let us know about it!

Discovering What You Want

Behind every desire is the core feeling we believe the dream will bring with it, so it can be very enlightening, and infinitely beneficial, to recognize and acknowledge the quality behind a desire. Here’s a process to help you identify what it is you are truly hoping for through the manifestation of your goals.
Get specific about your desire. Write out a description of your desire, including specifics around how it will make you feel to manifest this for yourself. Include all of your senses in your description, as this will engage your body in the feeling place of having your desire manifested and help you clarify what it is you truly want.
What quality will your desire bring? Read through your description and think about the essence of feeling behind the manifestation. Is it love? peace? accomplishment? confidence? harmony? What feeling is it you are hoping your desire will help you to achieve?
Recognize where you already have it. Once you’ve made note of the quality behind your desire, spend some time thinking about where you already experience those feelings in your life. Spend some time appreciating where you already have what you hope to manifest, and think of ways you might increase the frequency of those experiences in your life.
Consider the options. Think about the other ways in which you can have the feelings you are hoping to manifest with your desire. What other things could you do to bring those feelings into your life?
The more you can allow yourself to experience the feelings of your desire, the more you attune yourself to that frequency of vibration. The more attuned you are, the easier it is for the Universe to bring you more that matches that frequency. So have fun feeling your way around your desires, and watch the magic unfold!
We’d love to hear how this process works for you! Please feel free to leave a comment or drop us an email.
Trusting in our Process

One of the most important things we can do to help improve our manifesting experience is to build a relationship of trust within ourselves. Trust that things always work out, trust in the flow, trust in our natural abilities, trust in the Universe’s desire and ability to support us… When we have faith in the process and our place within it, we sit in a space of positive expectation, allowing room for magic and miracles to happen! This exercise is about recognizing where we have experienced a deep level of trust in our lives so that we can tap into that feeling in other areas.
Consider past manifestations. Make a list of things that you imagined, wanted, and then received in your life. This list might include things you have consciously manifested, or it may include mostly things that unfolded for you without your deliberate intent. It doesn’t matter how actively you pursued the manifestation, or how big or small the item or experience was. (If you have difficultly coming up with a list of your own past experiences, feel free to borrow from the experiences of others around you.)
What was the level of trust? Take a look at your list and consider what level of trust you had that you were going to receive each thing. Did you just know you were going to get that raise? Were you absolutely confident that the boy would want to go out with you? Were you sure you were going to win that contest?
Look at your current desire. Think about a current desire you are hoping to manifest. What’s your level of trust and expectation of success? Recognize where your trust is strong, and where you might need a boost. You might want to use EFT to tap on any areas where you feel a great deal of resistance.
Demonstrate your trust. Think about what action you could take right now to demonstrate your trust, and faith in your success? This might mean sharing your plans with others (be sure they’re people that will be supportive!), doing some research for your new web site, contacting a travel agent to inquire about that vacation, test driving your new car… think about the steps you would take if you absolutely trusted that your desire is manifesting, and consider moving forward with some of them!
We’d love to hear about how this process works for you! Please do leave a comment or send us an email to share any insights you have.
The Feather Game

One of my all time favourite manifesting games is the Feather Game. I was first introduced to it over at the forums on Wise Ways of Women and what got me all excited about it is that anyone can play it – even kids!
- Think of three random things you want to see manifest in your experience. These can be anything but the key is to choose things that are a light as a feather in your mind. Choose things that you are not highly invested in. This teaches us the art of detachment.
- Write these three things in the comment section below and spend a moment visualising your end result. See yourself experiencing the excitement of having these manifestations appearing in your reality. Then let it go.
- Come back and tell us about your manifestations – and choose three more random things to manifest.
I look forward to playing this game with you and celebrating our manifestations together!
What’s the belief?
May 6, 2009 by Melanie

Quite often we block ourselves from manifesting our desires by hanging onto beliefs that do not serve us, or that we aren’t even aware of! The good news here is that all we can release these beliefs by choosing to shine a little light on them, let them go with love and appreciation, and replace them with new beliefs that better serve us. Here’s a process to help you do just that.
Think about your current situation. What is it that you want? Spend some time thinking about where you are right now in relation to where you want to be. Pay attention to how you feel about the gap between your now and your preferred situation.
Example: You want to manifest financial freedom, but currently feel that the money you desire is out of reach.
Look at the beliefs. Now it’s time to look at the beliefs that may have helped get you to where you are right now. Ask yourself “What beliefs would someone have to create this situation?” Write down as many beliefs as you can come up with, and find the belief that most resonates with you as one you’ve been holding onto.
Example: Someone that is feeling that money is out of reach might believe: You need to come from money to have money. Money only comes to people who work hard doing things they dislike.
Give thanks. Once you’ve found the belief that most resonates with you, take a moment to give thanks to that belief for having served you in the past. Perhaps this belief was a step up from some lesser belief you were holding, perhaps it was a way to protect yourself in the past, perhaps it contains a big life lesson for you… You don’t need to know exactly how the belief has served you, but trust that it has and give thanks for the experience.
Release. Now that you have identified the belief and given thanks for the role it has played in your life, it is time to let it go and make room for a belief that better serves you. One very effective way to do this is through the use of EFT. It is always best with EFT to get as specific as possible, so if you find your charge isn’t lessening with one version of your belief, feel around a little for another take on the statement that approaches it from a different angle.
Example: Even though I have this belief that you have to work hard for money, I completely love and accept myself. Even though I have this belief that I am not capable of making money doing what I love, I completely love and accept myself. Even though I have this belief about money that feels red, angry and raw in my belly, I completely love and accept myself.
Write a new belief. Now that you’ve released the old belief, it’s time to replace it with a belief that better serves you. One way to approach this is to take a look at the beliefs you wrote earlier and write down some statements that be the opposite of those beliefs. Once you’ve completed the list, choose the belief that resonates most with you.
Example: Someone that is feeling that money is always within their reach might believe: There is enough money for all that I desire. I am able to attract all the money I need.
Absorb the new belief. Take your new belief and prepare to accept it into your experience. You can do this by repeating it as a mantra throughout the day, writing it on a card and carrying it with you in your pocket, meditating on the belief, or whatever other methods feel good to you. EFT can also be especially effective with tapping in new beliefs, so do a couple of rounds of tapping to help speed up the process.
You can go through this process as often as you like, on any subject you feel called to work with. Please feel free to leave a comment and let us know how it goes for you!
Guest Post: Daily Disciplines for Effortless Success by Jack Canfield

Hand’s down, one of the most popular questions I’m asked by students is this… “Jack, what are your most important daily actions that you correlate with your success.”
In fact, Oprah Winfrey asked me a similar question just days before appearing on her show last year. She asked me to come up with some easy-to-apply steps for her viewers to start applying The Law of Attraction in their lives, starting today!
One of the basic first steps is to determine, write down and talk about what you do want, not what you don’t want. Be as specific as possible. Once you have clarified what you want, do the following each and every day.
1. Morning Intention, Visualization and Releasing
As soon as you wake up in the morning, take about 5 minutes to focus your mind on your desires, goals and intentions. Start by sitting in a comfortable position, closing your eyes and visualizing your desires and goals as already being fulfilled. Spend 30 seconds to a minute on each of your core desires and goals. You can also take a few moments to visualize your day going exactly as you would like it to.
When you do this, you will often find negative limiting beliefs that are the result of negative programming from your childhood will come up. You may hear thoughts like “I could never afford that,”"there’s no way I’ll ever get that,” or “who am I kidding?” coming up. If you do, use one of the many releasing techniques that are available (see the list below) to release the negative thought. Don’t fight or argue with the thought; just release it.
Remember to also spend several moments feeling the feelings you would feel if you had already manifested your desire in your life. The intensity of the feeling is what fuels the intensity of the attraction.
Powerful releasing techniques:
* The Sedona Method by Hale Dwoskin: http://www.sedonamethod.com (Hale will be sharing his techniques when he speaks at my summer training Breakthrough to Success.)
* The Work by Byron Katie: www.TheWork.com
* The Emotional Freedom Technique: www.emofree.com
2. Use External Images to Keep you Focused on Your Desires and Goals
Keep yourself focused on what you want to manifest by surrounding yourself with visual images of the things and experiences you want to create in your life. There are many tools you can use for this, including creating a Vision Book from our Dream Big Collection.
1.) Cut out pictures of the things you wish to own (like your ideal car or home) and pictures that represent the experiences you want to have (like the perfect relationship, your ideal job, perfect health, being at your ideal weight, more joy, inner peace or balance in your life) to remind yourself of how you want it to be. Put them somewhere where you will see them every day–on the mirror, the refrigerator, or in your Vision Book.
2.) For even greater impact, combine your pictures with words that reflect your desired outcome, such as abundance, romance, fun, vitality, etc. I think you get the picture.
When you look at any of these pictures, do what Bob Doyle, who is featured in The Secret teaches– think the thought, “THIS IS MINE NOW! THIS IS WHO I AM!”
3. Think a Better Feeling Thought
Start paying attention to the many times during the day that you have emotional responses (to other people, experiences, or your own thoughts) that are not in alignment with having or producing your desires. Pay special attention to when you feel disappointment, resentment, frustration or anger about your experiences and circumstances.
Remember, it’s your feelings (which are created by your thoughts, opinions, and beliefs) that are creating your current circumstances. You must make a shift by changing your thoughts to ones that make you feel better (i.e., raise your vibration). Remember that you must become a vibrational match for the things and experiences that you want to attract into your life.
It is especially important to focus your thoughts and behaviors on things that cause you to feel joy. Focus your thoughts on thoughts that bring you joy (your lover, your best friend, your grandchildren, your favorite vacation spot) and your actions on doing the things you love to do (pet your cat, work in your garden, listen to your favorite music).
4. Have an Attitude of Gratitude
It is critical to take time each and every day to focus on what you are grateful for. Some people do this in the morning before or after they visualize their desires; others prefer to do it in the evening. Focus on all of the things in your life (most of which you take for granted) that you are grateful for–your health, your children, your job, the nice weather, electricity, running water, a nice stereo system, your flower garden, your pets, your friends).
No matter what your situation, there are always things to be grateful for. The more you focus on what you are grateful for, the more things and experiences you will attract to be grateful for. You may wish to carry a “gratitude rock” like the one Lee Brower talks about in “The Secret.”
5. Take Action
There are two kinds of actions you can take. Obvious actions are things like, if you want a better car, going to test drive all of the models you are interested in and choosing the exact car you want to have, and saving 10% of your income in a “car account.” If you want to be a doctor, apply to medical school.
There is also what I call “inspired actions.” Once you begin to do the things described above, the universe will start responding by sending people, resources and opportunities you need to manifest your desired result. You are going to find that you have inspired ideas; you must act on them. You must follow those gentle proddings from the universe. Often these intuitive impulses will have no seeming connection to achieving your goal, but if you follow them, they will lead you down a path of wonderful fulfillment.
Here’s a quick way to know if the actions you’re taking are taking you closer to the fulfillment of your dreams and desires. If you are feeling joy while you are doing them, then you are on the right path. Remember, joy is your internal guidance system, just like the GPS system in a car, telling you are taking the right actions. Follow your joy.
6. Acknowledge that it is Working
If you start to see something change for the better, acknowledge that it is happening. Appreciate it. When you find the perfect parking space, acknowledge it. When you get the table you want in the restaurant, acknowledge it. When you receive unexpected income, acknowledge it. When you meet someone who can help you achieve your goal, acknowledge that Law of Attraction is working. The more you acknowledge that it’s working, the more it will work. It’s that simple.
If you are attracting things into your life that you don’t want, remember the Law of Attraction is still working. Instead of thinking or saying, “It’s not working,” ask your self, “What am I focusing on, thinking about, talking about, feeling or doing that is bringing this into my life?” If you want to know what you are thinking about, notice the results you are producing in your life. To change those results, you will first have to change your vibration by changing your thoughts and feelings.
When you make a commitment to take these actions each day, you’ll start to move forward, with confidence, in the direction of your dreams. Believe that they are not only possible, but that they are already in progress.

Guest Post: What Do We Mean by Vibration? by Abraham-Hicks

When we speak of vibration, we are actually calling your attention to the basis of your experience, for everything is actually vibrationally based. We could use the word Energy interchangeably, and there are many other synonyms in your vocabulary that accurately apply.
Most understand the vibrational characteristics of sound. Sometimes when the deep, rich bass notes of your musical instrumentation are played loudly, you can even feel the vibrational nature of sound.
We want you to understand that whenever you “hear” something, you are interpreting vibration into the sound you are hearing. What you hear is your interpretation of vibration; what you hear is your unique interpretation of vibration. Each of your physical senses of seeing, hearing, tasting, smelling, and touching exist because everything in the Universe is vibrating and your physical senses are reading the vibrations and giving you sensory perception of the vibrations.
So as you come to understand that you live in a pulsating, vibrating Universe of advanced harmonics, and that at the very core of your being you are vibrating at what could only be described as perfection in vibrational balance and harmony, then you begin to understand vibration in the way we are projecting it.
Everything that exists, in your air, in your dirt, in your water, and in your bodies, is vibration in motion—and all of it is managed by the powerful Law of Attraction.
You could not sort it out if you wanted to. And there is no need for you to sort it out, because the Law of Attraction is doing the sorting, continually bringing things of like vibrations together while things of different vibrational natures are being repelled.
Your emotions, which really are the most powerful and important of your six physical vibrational interpreters, give you constant feedback about the harmonics of your current thoughts (vibrations) as they compare with the harmonics of your core vibrational state.
The Non-Physical world is vibration.
The physical world that you know is vibration.
There is nothing that exists outside of this vibrational nature.
There is nothing that is not managed by the Law of Attraction.
Your understanding of vibration will help you to consciously bridge both worlds.
You do not have to understand your complex optic nerve or your primary visual cortex in order to see. You do not have to understand electricity to be able to turn on the light, and you do not have to understand vibrations in order to feel the difference between harmony or discord.
As you learn to accept your vibrational nature, and begin to consciously utilize your emotional vibrational indicators, you will gain conscious control of your personal creations and of the outcomes of your life experience.

Money as Appreciation
April 19, 2009 by Melanie
Filed under Abundance and Prosperity, LoA Games and Processes
Our society has some wild beliefs about money, and it’s a rare person I know that hasn’t adopted some of these crazy notions as their own. Any of this sound familiar?
Money doesn’t grow on trees.
A penny saved is a penny earned.
You have to work hard to get ahead.
He’s ‘filthy rich’.
She must have done something bad/evil/dishonest to have that much money.
Money goes out faster than it comes in.
There’s never enough money.
I might be poor, but at least I’m a decent person.
If any of this echos a belief of yours, then consider this your lucky day! You’re about to take the first steps toward releasing these thoughts and replacing them with beliefs that serve you much better!
Money has no character. Money does not hold a negative or positive charge. Money is simply a tool - something we use in our society as a way to transfer energy between people for services rendered. Get that? Money is an exchange of energy. Exchanging dollars is how we’ve chosen to symbolize appreciation for the service of others. It is a physical expression of ‘thanks’ offered to another person.
When you say ‘thank you’ to a person that has done something for you, do you also add on a thought that the person is dirty/evil/taking advantage of you? Do you feel like they aren’t deserving of the appreciation? Do you have these thoughts when someone shares their appreciation of you? This verbal exchange of thanks is no different than the physical exchange of money. It is all an exchange of energy, given and received in appreciation. (Assuming here that you don’t offer appreciation to those you don’t appreciate, and can accept a ‘thank you’ with grace and a sense of self-worth. If not… then that’s a topic for another post.)
Starting today, imagine all of your dollars - incoming and outgoing - as pieces of paper with a big THANK YOU! written across them. Think about all of the people that your dollars will bless as you spend them. When you pay for a meal in a restaurant, consider: the waitress who uses your energy to help pay for her university tuition; the chef who accepts your energy toward his first date with his future wife; the janitor who puts that energy toward a vacation with his family; the company accountant that passes your energy onto her mother in the form of fresh flowers; the restaurant owner’s daughter who uses your energy to get a new costume for her upcoming dance recital… and on it goes. A never-ending cycle of thanks, blessing everyone your note touches!
Of course, now you want to bless as many people as you can! And the more money you have, the more thanks you can spread around! The more money you spend, the more blessings you share! So go ahead and accept the energy of money that is waiting to flow into your experience. Say yes to appreciation! Pass it on!
Book Review: Money, and the Law of Attraction

When I first heard that Money, and the Law of Attraction: Learning to Attract Wealth, Health, and Happiness was going to be published I rushed off to pre-order it and marked the expected arrival date on my calendar. I was so excited at the idea of having access to more written insight from one of my favourite teachers! And I’m happy to say when the book finally arrived, I wasn’t disappointed.
Money, and the Law of Attraction: Learning to Attract Wealth, Health, and Happiness by Esther and Jerry Hicks, channeling the leading edge thoughts of the non-physical entity known as Abraham, gets to the heart of using the Law of Attraction and Conscious Creation around matters of financial and physical well-being.
The book is full of fascinating essays presented in five sections:
- Part I – Processing of Pivoting and Positive Aspects
- Part II – Attracting Money and Manifesting Abundance
- Part III – Maintaining Your Physical Well-Being
- Part IV – Perspectives of Health, Weight, and Mind
- Part V – Careers, as Profitable Sources of Pleasure
These sections are packed with discussions such as how sympathy is of value to no one, why needing money won’t attract it, the concepts of saving for security or getting without giving, why some people are born with illness, whether something like Alzheimer’s is resolvable, how to consciously grow new muscle and bone, and how all deaths are a form of suicide. (Yes - some heady stuff discussed here!) And throughout it all are practical tips for how to put this new knowing into practice through use of the law of attraction for conscious creation.
The book also includes a written transcript and audio CD from one of the Abraham-Hicks workshops; this alone is worth more than the price of the book! And if you haven’t yet heard Abraham’s teachings in audio format, you’re in for a real treat! The energy behind the words is truly amazing to experience.
